Intended Audience
This webinar is intended for general users who are interested in learning more about the Human Cancer Models Initiative (HCMI) and available HCMI data in NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC).
Abstract
The Human Cancer Models Initiative (HCMI) is an international consortium with the goal of generating patient-derived next-generation cancer models (NGCMs) from diverse tumor types as a community resource. HCMI addresses deficiencies in traditional cell lines by collecting patients’ clinical and biospecimen data and providing molecular characterization of the parent tumor, case-matched normal tissue, and the NGCM. These data are harmonized and available at NCI’s Genomic Data Commons (GDC). The HCMI Searchable Catalog is an online resource that allows users to query and identify models using various data elements including clinical and molecular characterization data. The HCMI models and culture protocols are made available to the research community through ATCC. Altogether, the HCMI models and associated data serve as a resource to the scientific community.
Included Topics
- Provide an overview of the HCMI program
- Discuss how HCMI molecular characterization data can be accessed using a variety of GDC services and tools
- Search and identify models of interest on the HCMI Searchable Catalog
