This monthly support webinar helps all types of researchers utilize the cancer genomics data and resources available at NCI’s Genomic Data Commons (GDC). GDC experts will demonstrate how to find and access genomic data, how to use web-based tools, give in-depth explanations of bioinformatics pipelines, and more.

Intended Audience

This webinar is intended for cancer researchers and bioinformaticians who are interested in learning more about the NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC) bioinformatics pipelines supporting data harmonization.


The GDC RNA-Seq Analysis pipeline quantifies protein-coding gene expression. RNA-Seq data is aligned to the reference genome to detect splice junctions and then re-aligned to increase quality. Gene expression quantification and fusion detection are performed on the aligned reads. This webinar will provide an in depth look at how RNA-Seq data is processed at the GDC and made available to the research community.
