Date: Monday, April 11, 2022 Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EDT) Location: Web Conference (See WebEx information below) Speakers: Bill Wysocki, Ph.D, Director of User Services, University of Chicago |
This webinar is intended for general users who are interested in learning more about the NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC) and changes made to update the gene model to GENCODE v36 for bioinformatic analysis.
One of the main goals of the Genomic Data Commons is to provide useful and up-to-date genomic data for the cancer research community. Since its launch in 2016, the GDC has used GENCODE v22 as the reference gene model for bioinformatic analyses. To keep up with continually evolving gene definitions and annotations, the GDC in Data Release 32 updated the gene model reference used in data production to GENCODE v36. This webinar will provide an overview of the GDC GENCODE update including the affected file types, changes made to GDC bioinformatics pipelines, and updates to GDC analysis and exploration tools, and demonstrate download of GDC GENCODE v36 data. The GDC team will also present a comparative analysis between data generated using GENCODE v22 and v36.
