Turn Data Sharing Ideas into Impact: Enter the NCI ODS Impact Prize!

The NCI Office of Data Sharing (ODS) Impact Prize is a competition designed to identify and recognize innovative ideas and successful strategies that advance the broad, rapid, and equitable sharing and reuse of NCI-funded cancer research outputs. The primary objectives of the challenge are to:

  • Collect high-impact ideas that address opportunities and gaps in sharing and reusing cancer research outputs;
  • Recognize exemplary strategies that have demonstrated measurable impact on research output sharing and reuse; and
  • Build a portfolio of ideas and success stories that can help NCI and the broader cancer research community improve data sharing practices and maximize the public benefit of cancer research.

Participants can submit to one of three tracks: Track 1 - Research Output Sharing and Reuse Ideas, Track 2 - Research Output Sharing and Reuse Exemplars, or Track 3 - NCI Data Jamboree Submissions. Eligible research outputs extend beyond data and can include software, tools, methods and protocols, models, clinical trial results, biospecimens, and other resources that advance scientific knowledge and benefit the cancer research community.

The challenge offers a total prize purse of $200,000, including a $20,000 Grand Prize for the most outstanding submission across all tracks. Submissions are open through October 5, 2026

Help demonstrate how better sharing and reuse of cancer research outputs can accelerate discovery and increase the impact of publicly funded research.
