The GDC Wong-Staal Data Dictionary Release 4.0 includes the following features:
- Release of clinical data elements for the newly supported Participant Engagement and Cancer Genome Sequencing (PE-CGS) program
- Additional fields and values for the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and other programs
- Removal of deprecated properties
This release honors the legacy of Flossie Wong-Staal, continuing the GDC tradition of celebrating pioneering scientists.

Flossie Wong-Staal was a pioneering virologist best known for her groundbreaking work on HIV/AIDS research. She became the first scientist to clone and map the HIV virus, a major step that enabled the development of diagnostic tests for the disease. Her contributions significantly advanced understanding of viral genetics and helped shape modern approaches to treating and managing HIV.
