Melissa Porter

Melissa Porter received her B.S. in Biology from Michigan Technological University in 1996 and her M.S. in Biology from American University in 2007. Ms. Porter is currently the Director of Operations for the NCI Office of Cancer Genomics (OCG), Division of Cancer Biology (DCB).

Prior to her position with the NCI OCG, Ms. Porter was the Director of Operations for the NCI Center for Cancer Genomics (CCG), and administrative manager for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick, Md., in the Office of Scientific Operations (OSO), which oversees the operations of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. Prior to joining NCI, Ms. Porter was a laboratory manager for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. During her time there, she was also on special assignment to the scientific director and a senior research biologist focusing on apoptosis and cell death signaling and was responsible for oversight of a $6 million contract for animal breeding services. Prior to that, she worked at NIH as a medical technologist, medical technician, and laboratory intern in the Histocompatibility Lab. Her career began as a medical technician at the Georgetown University as a medical technician.
