Christina Yung

Dr. Yung is the Director, Genome Informatics and Principal Research Scientist at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). With a background in bioinformatics, Dr. Yung is experienced in building large scale data infrastructure to empower and accelerate cancer research discoveries. She is leading the software development of the data processing and data coordination centres in the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) initiative called Accelerating Research in Genomic Oncology (ARGO). Her other projects include the Gabriella Miller Kids First Data Resource Portal, the Human Cancer Model Initiative (HCMI) Searchable Catalog, European-Canadian Cancer Network (EUCANCan), and the Cancer Genome Collaboratory.

Dr. Yung was previously the Director of Data Commons in the Center for Translational Data Science at University of Chicago contributing to the NCI Genomic Data Commons and the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons Framework. Prior to joining UChicago, Dr. Yung was the Informatics Manager at the OICR where she led the Technical Working Group of the the ICGC PanCancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG). She received her PhD and MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University, and her BSc in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University.
